The Deathray is Real
Well, we can’t carve our names into the moon with it, mainly because people don’t trust us around lasers. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) announced that their new toy — a factual ray gun — works and has effectively tracked and obliterated a drone in flight over water. What makes this system unique is that the moist environment of the sea more or less absorbs the laser as it makes it way to break things. This isn’t the first ray gun the Navy has developed, just the latest and greatest model.
It’s big enough to vaporize your enemies, but small enough that you can mount it inside your hidden fortress. Now you’ve got a real reason to install a retractable roof. The ray gun may also have more practical uses, like for popping enough popcorn to make houses explode, lawn care, trimming unwieldy trees, or keeping dogs off your lawn without wasting land mines.
